The Pittsfield Colonials saw the tying run reach base in the seventh and eighth innings, but were unable to convert the needed tally as the Rockland Boulders held on to defeat the Colonials 3-2.

Rockland increased the advantage in the third as an RBI single from Tommy Giles and a sac fly by Todd Jennings make it 3-0 Rockland.

The Colonials got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning as Danny Bomback led off with a double. Two batters later, he still stood on second when Johnny Welch drove his third homer of the season out to left to slice the Rockland edge to 3-2.

Bobby Blevins (1-0) picked up the win, going 6.1 innings allowing two runs. Adrian Martin notched the save, striking out the side in the ninth.
