Sussex Skyhawks News Release
AUGUSTA, N.J. - Worcester's Alex Trezza drove in five runs and starter Junior Guerrero kept the Sussex bats quiet as the Tornadoes pounded the Skyhawks 13-2 on Wednesday night at Skylands Park.
The Worcester offense erupted for 19 hits, led by Chris Colabello and B.J. Weed, who each went four for four with three runs scored. Scott Grimes was four for six with four runs scored for Worcester. Trezza drove in his five runs on two hits, including his eighth home run of the season.
Guerrero (5-4) was in control for his seven-shutout innings of work, scattering seven hits while striking out two and walking no one.
Trezza jolted a two run home run in the top of the first to help Worcester jump out to an early 3-0. The Tornadoes blew the game open in the top of the fifth with two sacrifice flies and an RBI single by Trezza to make it 6-0.
Worcester and Sussex play the final game of the series at Skylands Park on Thursday at 6:35 p.m. There will be fireworks after the game.
