Pride walk-off on Brockton, 5-4

(NASHUA, N.H. - July 30th, 2008) Jerod Edmonson drew a bases-loaded walk from Brockton Rox reliever Matt Zachary in the bottom of the 10th inning to drive in Chris Torres and earn the walk off win in an afternoon barnburner for the Nashua Pride, their third straight over the Rox, in front of 1,907 fans at Historic Holman Stadium.

Edmonson finished the game 1-for-3 with a triple, a run scored and an RBI. Torres wrapped up 1-for-1, scoring the winning run. Other Pride hitters contributing in the win were: Mike Torres (2-for-3, 2 2B, 2 RBI) and Argenis Tavarez (2-for-5, run scored, RBI).

Zachary suffered the loss for Brockton, taking his record to 1-1 on the season. The reliever gave up one run in one and two-third innings on two hits, walking three and striking out one in the game. Brockton starting pitcher Wayne Lundgren (6-2), who was in line for the loss before Rox first baseman Francisco Lebron hit a solo HR in the eighth to tie the game at four, went eight innings, yielding four runs on eight hits, while striking out five and walking two.

Lebron had two hits in the game, including the home run, going 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI. Phillip Cuadrado and Jud Thigpen also had two hits for the visitors.

Adam Piechowski (5-0) earned the win for Nashua, pitching the last two innings of the contest, allowing only one hit and striking out three Rox hitters. Pride starter Jarrett Stawarz (3-2) did not factor in the decision, although he went five innings, giving up three runs on nine hits, striking out three and walking one along the way.

Nashua and Brockton conclude their five game series tomorrow night, Thursday July 31st at 7:05pm at Historic Holman Stadium. Right-hander Jason Paul (3-2, 3.30 ERA) will take the mound for the Pride in the series finale; the Rox will send righty Steve Delabar (3-2, 2.26 ERA) to the hill for their final game in New Hampshire.
