Game Notes: The Worcester Tornadoes, who enter today's game with a game lead for the final playoff spot, face the Brockton Rox for the last time at home this season. Justin Knoff will take the mound for the Tornadoes for his ninth start of the season and second against Brockton. He had his best outing of the season last time out on August 20th against the Pittsfield Colonials, getting the quality start and win with eight strong innings. He surrendered three earned runs while giving up eight hits, walking no one and striking out a season high nine batters. It was the second start of the season that Knoff did not give a free pass to a batter and first time since his first start. In his only start against Brockton this season on August 11th, he took the loss throwin five and third innings and surrendering four earned runs while giving up ten hits. On the season, Knoff has struck out 39 batters while walking just 14 in eight starts. Opposing him for Brockton will be 6'7" Aussie Wayne Lundgren, who will be making his 18th start of the season and his fourth start against Worcester. He has had a rough time his last two starts, going 0-2 with a 6.97 ERA. In those two outings, he pitched just ten and a third innings, surrendering eight earned runs and 16 hits while striking out seven. So far this season against Worcester, he is 1-1 with a 5.06 ERA. His win came earlier this month on August 10th, getting the quality start with six strong innings, surrendering two earned runs and giving up five hits while striking out five. On the season, opponents are hitting .287 against Lundgren and they have an on base percentage of .331 against the righty.

Last Night: After falling behind 5-0 after two innings, the Tornadoes were able to fight back with five unanswered runs, including four in the eighth, but lost to the Quebec Capitales 6-5 in 11 innings. Quebec took a 3-0 lead after one with an RBI single by Ivan Naccarata, a run scored off an error, and an RBI bases loaded walk from Marc Mimeault. Quebec would add two more in the second thanks to a two run homer by Rene Leveret. Tornadoes starter John Kelly would settle down after that, lasting six innings while giving up five hits, five runs (four earned), and striking out eight. Worcester would cut the Capitales lead to four in the fifth with a Billy Cather RBI single and before getting even with their four run eighth inning. In that inning, the Tornadoes scored thanks to Mike Baillargeon and Nick Salotti RBI singles followed by Alex Trezza's one out, two RBI single that tied the game at five. Quebec would then win the game in the bottom of the 11th, getting a bases loaded one out single from Josh Colafemina to win the game.

Offense: Billy Cather leads the team with a .311 average and is tied with Mark Minicozzi for the team lead in on base percentage with .373. Chris Colabello leads the team with 13 homeruns and 59 RBI's. Danny Santiesteban leads the team with a .513 slugging percentage and is second on the team with 12 homeruns. Stantrel Smith leads the team with 13 stolen bases and three triples.

Pitching: Shawn Gilblair has the team low in ERA with 2.15, followed by Rick Asadoorian with 2.18. They are also the only two not to have thrown a wild pitch this year. Opponents are batting .285 against tonight's starter Justin Knoff and have an on base percentage of .332 against the righty.
