Flores Racks up 12 Ks in Gem, Colonials Win 4-3

Augusta, NJ - The Pittsfield Colonials received a monster pitching performance from starter Miguel Flores, who fanned a career high 12 hitters to lead Pittsfield to a 4-3win over the Sussex Skyhawks at Skylands Park on Thursday night.
Flores (8-4) pitched seven and two-thirds innings in the victory allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks. Flores had a run of five hitless innings between the third and seventh innings and at one juncture fanned 11 of 14 batters faced. Closer Juan Padilla (11) was called on to nail down his second save in as many nights in the ninth inning.
Pittsfield shortstop Matt Nandin (3-for-5, 2B, RBI) enjoyed his second straight three hit game for the Colonials to lead the offense. Right fielder Angel Molina (1-for-4, 2B, RBI) doubled and knocked in a run while centerfielder Dan Carte (1-for-3, RBI) also recorded an RBI.
Skyhawks' starter Mike Vicaro (2-4) suffered the loss going seven innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits, two walks, and nine strike-outs.
The Colonials will continue the four game series against the Sussex Skyhawks on Friday night at 6:35 when Jonny Venters (1-4) takes the ball for Pittsfield against the Skyhawks Tim Stringer (3-6).
