Game Notes: Lefty Zach Zuercher will take the hill for the Tornadoes. He has appeared in 3 games since joining the team at the end of June, twice as a starter and once as a reliever. His first start was against Pittsfield on July 1st, going 5 innings and giving up 4 earned runs in a no decision. His latest and best start came against Quebec on July 6th, going 5 innings and giving up 3 runs (2 earned) in a losing effort. He also gave up 6 hits in each start. Opposing him will be righty Karl Gelinas, who will be making his 8th start of the season. His last start against Brockton back on July 8th was his longest, going 7 innings and giving up 2 earned runs in a winning effort. He has faced Worcester twice this season, going 1-0 with 17 innings pitched, 2 earned runs, and 6 hits against. Quebec won both of those starts.

Last Night: In an offensive showcase, Quebec Les Capitales were able to hold on to 9-8 win to clinch the first half. The Worcester Tornadoes got an RBI double from Gordie Gronkowski in the first and had 1-0, 4-1, and 7-6 leads but could not hold on. SP Jon Hollis lasted just 2 2/3 innings, giving up only 2 hits but allowing 5 earned runs and walking 6 batters. Worcester scored 7 runs in the first 4 innings but could not muster anything off reliever Andy Schon, who pitched 4 innings of scoreless baseball and allowing just 1 hit. Worcester was able to get a run back in the 9th inning on a Gronkowski RBI double, but C Alex Trezza grounded into a double play to end the game. RP John Slusarz got the loss, with 2 2/3 innings of work and giving up 2 earned runs. Offensively for the Tornadoes, IF Omar Pena was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and 3 runs scored while OF Ryan Crespi was 2 for 2 with 2 singles, 2 walks, an RBI, and 3 runs scored. For Les Capitales, Jordan Lemieux was 2 for 4 with a 3 run homerun in the 3rd.

Tornadoes:

Offense: 3B Chris Colabello has the team lead in homeruns with 6, RBI's with 28, and runs scored with 29. OF Ryan Crespi is second on the team with 5 homeruns and has scored 18 runs in 18 games of action. His .391 batting average and .455 on base percentage is also tops on the team. IF Omar Pena leads the team with 19 walks. C Alex Trezza leads the team with 13 doubles. Colabello leads the team with 17 extra base hits.

Pitching: Zuercher, tonight's starter, has walked and struck out 6 batters on the season. 6 of the 18 hits he has given up were extra base hits, including 2 home runs. Opponents are batting .300 against him and he has a WHIP of 1.714. RP Rick Asadoorian has now appeared in 5 games, pitching 5 scoreless innings. He is also the only pitcher on the team to not have surrendered a home run this season. RP's Shawn Gilblair and Alberty Ayala are 1 and 2 on the team for appearances with 17 and 16 respectively.
