Colonials Turn Over Rox 6-2

Brockton, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials beat the Brockton Rox 6-2 at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton, Massachusetts on Monday evening.

Colonials' starter Patrick Moran (1-1) earned his first professional victory with five innings of work, allowing two runs on three hits, one walk, and three strike-outs. The Colonials' relievers of David Qualben (2IP), Giuseppe Granitto (.2IP), Corey Shepherd (.1), and Shannon Sprouse (1IP) combined to throw five hitless innings against the Rox to finish the game and secure the win.

Pittsfield third baseman Jason Taylor (2-for-3, 2 2B, 3 RBI) led the attack with a pair of doubles and three RBIs while second baseman Danny Bomback (2-for-4, 2 RBI) came through with a pair of hits and RBIs for the winners.

Rox starting pitcher Freddy Flores (5-1) suffered his first loss of the season going eight inning and allowing six runs (five earned) on eleven hits. Brockton third baseman Phillip Cuadrado (1-for-4, HR, 2 RBI) drove in the only runs for the Rox with his league leading ninth home run of the season, a two-run shot.

The Colonials will wrap-up the three game series at Brockton's Campanelli Stadium on Tuesday at 12:05pm. Scheduled to start for Pittsfield is right-hander Trevor Marcotte (2-2). He'll go against Brockton's Wayne Lundgren (5-2).
