Tornadoes Fall After Big Inning

NASHUA, NH--- For the second night in a row, the Worcester Tornadoes dug themselves a hole they couldn't quite crawl out of; the hometown team dropped game three against NH 7-5.

Eddie Pena (0-2) making the spot start tonight, his first of the season, pitched three innings and gave up five runs (four earned) four of which came in a devastating third that included a three run bomb from the Defender catcher. Rookie Zane Chavez had a career night with three hits, and four runs batted in.

Trailing 5-1 the Tornadoes crawled back against Miguel Flores (5-1, 3-0 vs. WT) and company. The orange and black scraped together a run in the fifth off Flores and another in the eighth against Lucas Ledbetter. The rookie right-hander Ledbetter, part of a nine-rookie NH bullpen, turned in three innings of one run middle relief striking out three.

Luis Ramos began the ninth, allowed two runners to reach, and gave way to Juan Padilla. Padilla allowed the two inherited runners to score, but struck out Alex Trezza to earn his seventeenth save.

Worcester will try to split with the team they swept three games to none last time out at home tomorrow at 6:35. Starters include Jusef Frias (3-2) for Worcester and Alex Woodson (1-1) for NH.
