Saturday, August 1
New Hampshire 3, Sussex 2 (Game 1 - 7 Innings)
With a rainout on Friday night, the game was postponed to Saturday where Sussex and New Hampshire would play a doubleheader. In the first of two games, The American Defenders of New Hampshire used a go-ahead homer from 2B Boomer Berry to get past Sussex 3-2. Miguel Flores tossed five innings for New Hampshire, allowing two earned runs on seven hits. He got the win to move his record to 4-1. Juan Padilla worked the final inning for his 16th save. Sussex CF Jorge Moreno went 2-for-3 with two RBI in a losing effort.
Sussex 2, New Hampshire 0 (Game 2 - 7 Innings)
In game two, Sussex got RBI singles in the seventh inning from 2B Chris Brown and RF Maikel Jova to split the twin bill with a 2-0 victory. Hits were scarce in this one as each team tallied just three. Justin Knoff pitched scoreless six innings for the Skyhawks and improved his record to 5-4 with the win. New Hampshire's Alex Woodson was equal to the task, pitching 6 1/3 innings, but allowed two earned runs on just one hit to fall to 1-1. Sandy Nin worked a perfect seventh inning for his seventh save.
Sunday, August 2
Sussex 11, New Hampshire 3
Sussex starting pitcher Kyle Ruwe allowed three runs on eight hits while striking out three and walking just one en route to the complete game victory. The win for Ruwe was his sixth of the season. Ruwe got plenty of offensive support from the bottom of the order. The Skyhawks' six through eight hitters combined to go 5-for-11 with two home runs, four runs scored and nine RBI. 3B Jeremy Hunt and LF Ryan Crespi were the two responsible for the homers, while 2B Chris Brown was 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI.
