Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
The Albuquerque Isotopes' second Youth Skills clinic of the season turned out to be the biggest ever, as 152 kids ages 5-15 took part in the event on Saturday morning at Isotopes Park. The participation was the largest in the seven-years that the 'Topes have been having their twice-yearly clinics.
In addition to the kids, a group of 12 Isotopes players and coaches, 'Topes skipper Tim Wallach, hitting coach John Moses, pitching coach Glenn Dishman; head athletic trainer Greg Harrel, strength and conditioning coach Stephen Downey; pitchers Tim Corcoran, Seth Etherton, and Scott Dohmann; catchers J.D. Closser and Esteban Lopez; and infielders John Lindsey and Justin Sellers led the kids through a full morning of baseball fundamentals.
Clinic participants were divided into eight groups and rotated through a series of eight stations, including throwing, bullpen, outfield, conditioning, base running, infield, and hitting, where they were given tips and instruction by the Isotopes themselves.
After each group got a chance to try each station, all the participants were treated to lunch and each kid will get tickets to Saturday's game against Sacramento.
The Isotopes continue their action-packed homestand against Sacramento tonight with another spectacular post-game fireworks show. On Sunday, pink will be the color of choice as the 'Topes will recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Night by donning pink jerseys that will be auctioned post-game to benefit Susan G. Komen. Also on tap for Sunday is drawstring backpack giveaway and a pre-game autograph session.Tickets for any Isotopes game may be purchased at the Isotopes Park Box Office, at Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or on-line at www.albuquerquebaseball.com or www.ticketmaster.com.
