Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Shane Loux notched his first win since June 8 as the Round Rock Express defeated the Fresno Grizzlies 4-1 in Saturday night's series finale at The Dell Diamond. The Express (47-68) claimed the series three-games-to-one with the win. The Grizzlies (63-52) have lost five of seven overall and 11 of 15 on the road.

Chris Shelton's three-run homer in the bottom of the first snapped a scoreless tie, and that proved to be all the run support Loux (3-11) would need. He did not allow a hit until a one-out single in the third and kept the Grizzlies off the scoreboard until the sixth.

Loux, who spent six weeks on the disabled list after his first start of the season, had lost each of his last 10 starts. He turned in his second consecutive quality outing, scattering four hits and a walk with three strikeouts over 6.0 innings.

Chris Sampson and Roy Corcoran each worked a scoreless inning of relief before Casey Daigle notched his eighth save with a scoreless ninth.

Fresno starter Henry Sosa (6-5) took the loss; he allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over 6.0 innings.

Wladimir Sutil doubled with one out in the first and moved to third on a wild pitch. After Brian Bogusevic walked, Shelton drilled a 2-2 Sosa offering onto the berm beyond the left-field wall for his 10th round-tripper. It was Shelton's second homer since returning from an eight-week stay on the disabled list July 28.

J.B. Shuck doubled to open the fifth, moved to third on a Sutil sacrifice bunt and scored on Bogusevic's RBI double. Bogusevic has hit safely in seven straight games, his longest streak of the season.

Fresno's lone run came in the sixth when Brett Pill doubled with two outs and Ben Copeland followed with an RBI single. That snapped a 14.2-inning scoreless streak for Express pitchers, their longest such run of the season.

The Grizzlies threatened in the eighth, loading the bases with one out. However, Corcoran got Jackson Williams to bounce into an inning-ending double play.

Shuck was 2-for-4 with a double and a triple, while Oswaldo Navarro was 2-for-4. Copeland and Jesus Guzman each had two hits for the Grizzlies.

Round Rock opens a four-game series against Sacramento with a 6:05 p.m. CDT first pitch Sunday. Right-hander Yorman Bazardo (2-4, 3.99 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Express, while southpaw John Halama (4-1, 5.57 ERA) will start for the River Cats.
