Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
A group of 11 Albuquerque Isotopes will lead the first of the team's two annual Youth Skills Clinics taking place tomorrow, July 9 beginning at 9:00 AM at Isotopes Park. ¬ËTopes pitching coach Glenn Dishman; athletic trainer Greg Harrel, strength and conditioning coach Stephen Downey; pitchers Randy Keisler, Mario Alvarez, and Joe Newby; catcher J.D. Closser; infielders John Lindsey and Russ Mitchell, and outfielders Jamie Hoffmann and Jerry Sands will all take time out of their Saturday morning to instruct area kids ages 5-15 on baseball fundamentals.
Clinic participants will be divided into seven groups and rotate through a series of stations; throwing, bullpen, outfield, conditioning, infield, and hitting, where they will be given tips by the Isotopes themselves. Kids will also get a clubhouse tour.
After each group gets a chance to try each station, all the participants will be served lunch courtesy of McDonald's in the picnic pavilion at 1:00 PM.
While spots are going fast, there is still room and participants can sign up on the morning of the clinic at Isotopes Park by entering through the third base gate beginning at 8:00 AM.
The Isotopes' second Youth Skills Clinic is scheduled for Saturday, August 6.
The Isotopes roll into the All-Star Break with an action-packed homestand that includes a backpack giveaway tonight and the second fireworks show in six days tomorrow. Tickets for any Isotopes game may be purchased at the Isotopes Park Box Office, at Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or on-line at www.albuquerquebaseball.com or www.ticketmaster.com.
