Tucson Padres News Release

Wade LeBlanc and Aaron Poreda combined to throw the Tucson Padres second shutout, as the T-Pads beat Fresno 10-0 Thursday. LeBlanc pitched eight innings and allowed just four hits and one walk and Poreda pitched a scoreless ninth inning. The Padres offense pushed former San Diego Padre Josh Banks out of the game after five innings, scoring nine times on 11 hits while Banks was in the game.

Tucson's third inning rally included a two-run home run by Kyle Blanks, who has now recorded at least one hit in 23 straight games. Only Reno's Tony Abreu has a longer hitting streak this season (24 games, and active). Every Padres position player had at least one hit Thursday, including Matt Clark, who had three hits, one of which was a solo home run. One night after going 4-for-4, Aaron Cunningham was 2-for-4 with an RBI and catcher Guillermo Quiroz went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Tucson has won 10 of its last 11 games. With Sacramento's victory over Las Vegas, the Padres remain in third place, seven games out of first and only two games behind second place Las Vegas. The Padres record is 44-43, the first time the club has been over .500 since the third game of the season.
