Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Jason Dubois hit his fourth homer in two nights as the Albuquerque Isotopes rally fell short in a 5-4 loss to the Iowa Cubs on Saturday night at Isotopes Park.
Isotopes pitching, who came into the game leading the lead in homers allowed, gave up three more homers out of the Cubs five hits. Albuquerque took the early lead on a Derek Wathan RBI double in the bottom of the first. The hit extended Wathan's hitting streak to a franchise record 16 games. David Kelton tied the game in the second with his second homer in as many nights. Damion Jackson made it 2-1 Iowa in the third with a blast off starter Mike Nannini (1-1). Dubois' two-run shot in the fourth, the third of the night for the Cubs, increased the Iowa lead to 4-1.
After an Iowa run in the eighth made it 5-1, Albuquerque attempted a late rally. Mike Colangelo hit a two-run homer to draw the Isotopes to within 5-3. A Ryan Jorgensen double and Wilson Valdez RBI single pulled Albuquerque to 5-4.
The Isotopes (11-12) have lost the first three games of the series to Iowa (14-9) and try to avoid the sweep tomorrow afternoon, beginning at 1:35 PM. Kevin Olsen (0-2) will make his fifth start.
