Summerside Storm News Release

(Summerside, PE) It is the most anticipated game of the season when the Summerside STORM visit the John Labatt Centre in London, Ontario tonight to take on the London Lightning at 8 pm Atlantic Time.

The STORM come into the game sporting a 19-13 record leading the Atlantic Division of the NBL while sitting in second place overall in the league. The Lightning sit atop the overall league standings with a 28-4 record, easily in first place in the Central Division.

The STORM and Lightning have only met once this year, back on January 24th, when the STORM beat the Ontario team 116-97 at Credit Union Place in Summerside. The STORMS Brandon Robinson had a big night scoring 36 points with Omari Johnson scoring 24 and Greg Plummer 22. Also tonight, Shamari Spears makes a return to London, but this time in a STORM uniform, as he was added to STORM roster this week for the injured Antonio Ballard. The 6'6" power forward helped the Lightning win the NBL Championship last season with 13 points per game in the regular season and 18 points in the fifth and deciding game against Halifax in the league Championship final.

The two teams were to meet two weeks ago in London but the game was postponed due to poor travel conditions. That game date saw over 4,000 tickets pre-sold for the game which shows how much the Lightning and their fans are looking forward to the rematch. STORM Fans can see the live webcast of the game by visiting the STORM website at www.stormbasketball.ca and following the webcast links.

STORM Season Ticket holders are reminded the March 1st deadline is fast approaching to purchase playoff packages which also holds the seat you've enjoyed all year for STORM Pro Basketball. Playoff packages can be purchased at the Credit Union Place Box Office or online from STORM website at www.stormbasketball.ca . The general public may also purchase playoff packages and reserve a best possible seat the same way.

The STORM play next at home on March 5th as they finish their regular season with five straight home games. The March 5th game is against Saint John, March 8th vs Oshawa, March 10th vs Halifax, March 14th vs London, and March 16th Halifax. All are potential playoff previews as teams continue to jockey for play-off positions.
