
Top Prospects Tournament Starts Today

The NAHL Top Prospects Tournament kicks off today (Monday) in Ann Harbor, Michigan. Representing the Aberdeen Wings at the tournament will be forwards #16 Kyle Haak (F-Okemos, MI) and #21 Bjorn Sigurdarson (F-Reykjavik, Iceland).
The NAHL Top Prospects Tournament is designed to showcase each divisions' top players who have not currently made a college commitment. In attendance will be scouts from all over Division I and Division III hockey. Also in attendance will be scouts from NHL teams.
Haak, the 2014-2015 captain for the Aberdeen Wings will be featured at the tournament as the Wings' leading scorer with 14 goals and 29 assists. Haak is in his 3rd season with the Aberdeen Wings and 4th season in the NAHL. So far, in his career, he has tallied 34 goals and 79 assists in 169 games.
Sigurdarson, a 1994 born forward from Reykjavik, Iceland has been named to the team. Last season, he scored 13 goals and 25 assists for 38 points in 54 games. Sigurdarson also represented team Iceland in the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championships. His performance in those games tallied 4 goals and 4 assists giving him Iceland MVP. So far this season, Sigurdarson has scored 11 goals and 10 assists. Earlier this season, he was also named the 2014 Icelandic National Hockey Player of the Year, the most prestigious hockey award throughout the country.
Also representing the NAHL Central Division a selection by the Wings will be goaltender Chad Catt, who is currently with the Soo Eagles of the NAHL North Division. Catt played in 71 games for the Aberdeen Wings from 2012-2015. Before being traded to the Soo Eagles, who are in a playoff push, Catt was named to the Top Prospects Tournament as a member of the Aberdeen Wings and NAHL Central Division. As a Wings goaltender, Catt was 33-30-6. Since joining the Soo Eagles, he has been solid 4-0-0 with a 1.72 goals against average and 94% save percentage.
Last season, the Wings were represented in the Top Prospects Tournament by defenseman Jake Horton, defenseman Dillon Eichstadt, and forward Jon Grebosky. Following the tournament, Horton made a Division I commitment to the University of Massachusetts where he has scored 4 goals and 4 assists in 32 games as a freshman. Eichstadt made his Division I college commitment to Bemidji State University in his hometown and currently plays for the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL where has scored 6 goals and 16 assists. Grebosky made a Division III commitment to hockey powerhouse Concordia where has tallied 12 goals and 7 assists.
The NAHL Central Division games are as followed:
Monday - NAHL Central vs. NAHL North - 12pm CST
Tuesday - NAHL Central vs. NAHL South - 1pm CST
