Top League Performers Earn All-af2 Status

CHICAGO - The Arkansas Twisters, Florida Firecats, Stockton Lightning and Tulsa Talons each landed a league-best six players on the All-af2 First and Second Teams, the league office announced today. Overall, players from 24 of the league's 30 teams were selected to either the American or National Conference All-af2 First and Second Teams as voted on by af2 head coaches and media.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers had the second most selections overall but the largest number of First Team members with five. QB RYAN VENA, C BEAU ELLIOTT, OL ZACK LOVE, DB CHRIS ROYAL and K DAVID DAVIS were all major players in 2007 for the Pioneers that helped lead the team to a 14-2 regular season record.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton has carried over its success into the postseason as well. The Pioneers host Green Bay this Saturday, Aug. 18 in the American Conference Championship. Also on Saturday, Tulsa hosts Bossier-Shreveport in the National Conference Championship.

The Battle Wings, Louisville Fire and Spokane Shock were also well represented with four players named All-af2.

Oklahoma City WR/DB AL HUNT has been one of the league's most consistent all-around players since his career began in 2003. He has earned five straight All-af2 selections, the most of any current league athlete. He earned First Team accolades this season and in 2004 while earning All-af2 Second Team recognition in 2003 (Tulsa), 2005 and 2006.

Several first-year teams also had a number of players who were named All-af2, including Cincinnati, Corpus Christi, Mahoning Valley, Texas and Tri-Cities. The Fever had the best representation overall with three players being named All-league. QB BRIAN BAKER, WR J.R. THOMAS and DB JAMIE HATTLEY were named to the American Conference All-af2 Second Team.
