Worcester Tornadoes News Release

AUGUSTA, NJ--- The Tornadoes made a late inning come back attempt off of Sussex reliever Stephen Fox, but fell just short. The Skyhawks take game one of a weekend wrap-around four game series 6-4. The scoring began in the first for Sussex when the second basemen Chris Brown doubled off starter Ryan Lobban (4-3) and scored on a two out single from Maikel Jova. It was Jova's thirty-seventh RBI to lead the CanAm League. It was 2-0 in the when Chris Brown struck again and belted his first homer of the season off of Lobban following a leadoff walk to Ryan Crespi. PJ Brown replaced Lobban and allowed one more run (unearned) to score on a wild pitch closing the book on the lefty, who has dropped his last two decisions.

Worcester mounted the aforementioned comeback in the top of the eighth inning with three straight hits from the top third of the order, all of which scored. Sandy Nin entered the game and surrendered an RBI to Jeff LaHair before ending that frame. Nin got the save (3), pitching an inning and a third all told, striking out the side in order in the ninth. Roger Lincoln (3-2) went seven striking out four to earn the victory.

Tomorrow at 5:05 the Tornadoes will try to snap a five game skid in game two of the series. LHP Zack Zuercher (1-4) for Worcester will oppose RHP Carter Clements (2-2) of Sussex. Pre game at 4:50 on WTAG.
