
Tony Tompkins earns CFL Special Teams Player of the Week honours

(Edmonton) Edmonton's 14-12 victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers last Friday was due in large part to the play of special teams and that effort has been rewarded as kick returner Tony Tompkins has been named CFL Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 4.
Tompkins opened the game with a 57-yard kickoff return and added 142 yards on 8 punt returns (17.5 avg.) including an 80-yard romp to open the second quarter.
Tompkins' award winning performance last Friday comes on the heels of an electrifying display in Montreal (July 8) after he returned a punt 93 yards for a touchdown versus the Alouettes. Tompkins currently leads the CFL with 315 yards on 16 punt returns (19.7 avg.) and one touchdown.
The Eskimos travel to Ottawa to take on the Renegades on Thursday, July 21 at 7:30 pm (ET). The next Eskimos home game is Saturday, July 30 versus the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at 5:00 pm. presented by the Sawmill Restaurant Group.
