Tony Donatelli Named 2nd Team All-MASL; Adriano Dos Santos Named 3rd Team All-MASL

KANSAS CITY - The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) followed up yesterday's All-Rookie announcement by today naming the MASL 2nd Team, 3rd Team and Honorable Mention. These awards are a prelude to the MASL Conference Finals to be held this weekend. The Milwaukee Wave travel to the Baltimore Blast on Friday and the Monterrey Flash host the San Diego Sockers on Sunday as all four teams try to earn a spot in the Ron Newman Cup Championship.
Blast midfielder Tony Donatelli was named to the 2nd Team All-MASL. This is Donatelli's first career All-League selection. Donatelli played 20 games this season, and led the Blast in points (43), goals (22), and assists (21). His 43 points ranked 10th in the MASL and his 21 assists were seventh in the league. Donatelli also had 21 blocked shots on the year.
Blast defender Adriano Dos Santos was named to the 3rd Team All-MASL. This is Dos Santos' first career All-League selection as well. Dos Santos played 20 games this season, recording 21 points on seven goals and 14 assists. His 21 points were 5th on the team and his 14 assists were third on the Blast. Dos Santos also blocked 16 shots this season.
Blast Goalkeeper William Vanzela was named Honorable Mention. Vanzela started 13 games this season, going 10-2 with a 4.18 GAA and .770 save percentage. Despite missing nine games to injury, Vanzela's 10 wins were tied for fifth in the MASL. He led the league in save percentage and his 4.18 GAA was third in the MASL.
Each team in the MASL was invited to submit a vote from their General Manager or Head Coach for the MASL post-season awards.
The MASL will continue to award postseason honors this week, with the 1st Team All-MASL on Thursday, March 15.
