North Carolina FC News Release

CARY, N.C. - Carolina defender Jeremy Tolleson was named to the USL-1 Team of the Week for Week 20, the USL-1 announced Tuesday.

It's the second straight week Tolleson has been honored, making him the sixth RailHawk this season to appear on multiple teams of the week, and it's the seventh straight week a RailHawk has been selected.

Tolleson played all 90 minutes in Saturday's 0-0 tie at Rochester and he was vital in helping the RailHawks secure their league-leading 15th shutout of the season despite being outshot 11-4.

"We're getting lots and lots of clean sheets, and that's always a good sign," said Carolina coach Martin Rennie. "If you're not losing goals, you've always got a chance to win. We're definitely cognizant of that, and Jeremy's been a key part of that. As I've said before, he reads the game really well and he's really mobile and he's consistently good. That's real important, and I think he and [Mark] Schulte have a good partnership in the middle [of the defense]."

Since missing the first five games of the season while recovering from a foot injury, Tolleson has appeared in 18 straight USL-1 matches, logging 1,708 minutes and helping the RailHawks hold their opponents to 0.500 goals per game and 13 shutouts when he's in the lineup.

Tolleson has also figured in each of the RailHawks' record-setting shutout streaks. He played every minute of the RailHawks' 499-minute streak from May 9 through June 14, and he played every minute of the 566-minute streak from July 24 through August 18.

Tolleson and RailHawks (13-5-6) are looking for their seventh shutout in eight games and 16th of the season on Wednesday when they take on Miami at WakeMed Soccer Park at 7 p.m.
