Miami FC Continues Raod Trip
August 25, 2009 - USL First Division (USL-1)
Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release
Miami FL -August 25th 2009 - Miami FC continues its four-game road trip this Wednesday, August 25th; this time facing the third place Carolina Railhawks at WakeMed Soccer Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
Although Miami endured back to back losses this past weekend to first place Portland Timbers and seventh place, Vancouver Whitecaps, it continues to be in the playoff hunt. The team has seven games left in the calendar, three of which are at home. The Blues have been showcasing a more disciplined style of play, but unfortunately have been plagued by two last minute goals in the last two matches, denying them any points. Despite Miami's defeats this past weekend, head coach Zinho thinks that the increased style of play will eventually translate to some wins.
"We played well on the road, we had some flashes of great soccer, but we have to play well for 90 minutes," said Zinho. "Everyone on the team understands what's at stake. If we become more consistent, then I'm confident we will return home with some points."
The Railhawks are currently tied for second place, even though they have only played 24 games. They are 8-2-2 at home but they drew 1-1 against the Vancouver Whitecaps on August 22nd. Carolina has also been out shot 42-25 a midst a three game stretch, and have only scored one goal. Carolina is 4-3-0 all time against the Blues. Miami won its first match at WakeMed Stadium 4-1 in 2007.
Miami will return home to face the Austin Aztex for the second time in seven days. This will be the last game played at FIU for the 2009 USL-1 season.
