I think this is a great opportunity to show that Miami has some of the greatest soccer freestylers in the world."
Miami FC will have some of its players participate, and will be giving away numerous prizes. There is no cost to register, participate or attend the event. Red Bull Street Style is a freestyle soccer competition taking place in more than 40 countries around the world. The name street style says it all: pretty much everything goes. Just like in a normal game of soccer, participants are not allowed to use their hands or arms to control the ball, and it is also forbidden to disturb the opponent in any way during his or her 20-second segment. During the battle, both the ball and the competitor must stay inside the competition area. A battle comprises two players squaring off against each other in a three-minute session to showcase their scoring skills. Each player receives the ball for a 20-second segment before having to pass it over to his or her opponent.
Anyone wishing to participate should send his/her name, age, team/league/club/affiliation, email and phone number to Teofilo "Coco" Cubillas at tcubillas@trafficsports.com by no later than September 13th. Formal invites to come soon. In the mean time, visit http://www.redbullstreetstyle.com/ regularly for upcoming information - - and remember to save the date - Friday, September 18th!
