Cleveland City Stars News Release
Cleveland, Ohio - Midfielder Jason Hotchkin and Goalkeeper Hunter Gilstrap have been named to the Week 20 USL First Division Team of the Week after Saturday's victory over the Minnesota Thunder.
Hotchkin makes his first appearance on the Team of the Week this season. The 31-year old midfielder has taken control of a starting position for the City Stars during the past month and responded last week with his best play of the season. Hotchkin scored a magnificent goal in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to Montreal and followed it up with an assist to Teteh Bangura in Saturday's victory.
Gilstrap makes his third appearance on the Team of the Week for 2009 after posting his sixth shutout of the season in the win over the Thunder. Gilstrap recorded three saves, including a great one-on-one save in the 71st minute. Minnesota's Rod Dyachenko controlled inside the box and fired from a short angle but Gilstrap extended and made a great diving save to push the ball wide of the net and preserve the win for the City Stars.
"Getting two guys on the team of the week is great news after a good result for us over the weekend," said City Stars head coach Rod Underwood. "Jason has played well since he's been back from injury and he really made some good things happen for us this week. Hunter has been there for us all season and he had another good performance to help us get three points. It was good to get a victory and move up in the table and now we have to be prepared to do it again this week on the road."
