Asheville Tourists News Release

ASHEVILLE - The Asheville Tourists defeated the Rome Braves 5-4 on Saturday night thanks to some clutch performances. Will Gaddis, who made his final start of 2018, tossed a quality start to pave the way. Todd Czinege broke a 4-4 tie in the eighth inning with a solo Home Run and Tommy Doyle made sure the lead held up.

Nic Motley put Asheville up 1-0 with a solo Home Run in the bottom of the second. Rome plated the game's next three runs with one in the third and two in the fifth. The Tourists mounted a comeback in the bottom of the sixth.

Casey Golden and Czinege worked back-to-back one out walks and Jeff Moberg's RBI double brought the Tourists back to within a run. Taylor Snyder followed with an RBI single and Motley's sacrifice fly gave Asheville a 4-3 lead.

The Braves managed to tie the score but Czinege's big fly to lead off the bottom of the eighth inning proved to be the difference. Doyle tossed a 1-2-3 ninth with a pair of strikeouts for his league leading 18th save of the season. Hayden Roberts picked up the win to move to 4-0 on the year.

The Tourists and the Braves are back at it on Sunday night with a special 7:05pm first pitch time. Asheville has two games remaining this season.
