Titans Entertain Matinee Crowd With Win Over Bombers In Trenton

Trenton, NJ – The Dayton Bombers dropped a 6-2 decision to the Trenton Titans in front of 5,382 at The Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, New Jersey Saturday afternoon. Bryce Cockburn recorded three goals, while Leon Hayward chipped in two goals and one assist for the Titans.

The Titans scored on each of their first two shots and never looked back. Bryce Cockburn opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal at 5:33, and Trenton took a 1-0 lead. Leon Hayward made it 2-0 Titans with his 11th goal of the season at 8:51 of the first period.

Cockburn made it 3-0 with a powerplay goal at 4:25 of the second period, then he gave Trenton a 4-0 lead with his third goal of the night - and 12th of the season - at 5:51. The Bombers snapped the shutout bid of Andrew Allen with a powerplay goal from SCOTT BASIUK at 14:21. But Leon Hayward's 2nd goal of the game as he stepped out of the penalty box and beat Bombers goaltender SIMON LAJEUNESSE at 18:32 gave Trenton a 5-1 lead after two periods.

The team's exchanged goals in the third period with Mike Schutte scoring for Trenton at 11:11 on the powerplay, and JANNE JOKILA scoring for Dayton at 15:12. The Titans outshot the Bombers, 28-26, in the 6-2 victory.

The Bombers are back in action tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon when they return home to host the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies at the E.J. Nutter Center. Audio coverage begins at 2:00 PM at daytonbombers.com.
