The San Diego Padres have made the following Minor League transaction:

Effective Sunday, July 3, 2022

Right-handed reliever Felix Minjarez transferred from High-A Fort Wayne to Double-A San Antonio

Fort Wayne TinCaps (2-7, 29-46) vs. Lake County Captains (4-5, 39-36)

LHP Jackson Wolf vs. RHP Jack Leftwich

LAST NIGHT: The TinCaps lost to the Whitecaps in West Michigan, 13-4. Max Ferguson doubled, homered, and walked, while Lucas Dunn had an RBI single and walked twice.

BIG CROWDS ON THE 4TH: The 5 largest crowds in Parkview Field's history have all come on the 4th of July, including a record of 9,508 in 2019 against Lake County.

BIG PERFORMANCES ON THE 4th: In 2017, future Padres pitcher Michel Baez threw 5 scoreless innings with 9 strikeouts in his Single-A debut against Lake County as the 'Caps won, 4-0 (Fernando Tatis Jr. tripled in the game, too)... In 2018, current Padre MacKenzie Gore fired 6 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts against Great Lakes as the 'Caps won, 7-0.

ALSO ON THIS DAY: In 1939, Lou Gehrig gave his "Luckiest Man" speech at Yankee Stadium.

JACKSON WOLF: Ranks 9th in the Midwest League in batting average against (.222) and WHIP (1.27)... Ranks 6th in K/9 (11.1) and K% (29%), and 7th in K/BB (2.8)... 8th in xFIP (4.04)... Batters have swung and missed at 13% of his pitches, the 7th highest rate in the league.

MAX FERGUSON: Ranks 2nd in all of professional baseball in stolen bases (52) and 3rd in walks (66)... As far as walks go, Austin Gauthier with the Dodgers' Single-A affiliate, Rancho Cucamonga, has 69. Juan Soto of the Nats leads MLB with 67... Another Padres prospect, Esteury Ruiz, a 2018 TinCap, has 56 stolen bags between Double-A San Antonio and Triple-A El Paso. The current MLB leader is Miami's Jon Berti with 25.

ROBERT HASSELL: Leads the MWL in average (.304), while ranking 3rd in hits (75), 6th in RBIs (43), 7th in stolen bases (19), and 9th in OBP (.376)... He's swung and missed at only 9% of pitches, 8th lowest rate in the MWL.

COREY ROSIER: Leads the MWL in runs (54), while ranking 4th in triples (5), and 5th in stolen bases (24) and walks (45; 15%)... He's swung and missed at only 8% of pitches, the 4th lowest rate in the league... 16-game on-base streak dating back to June 14 ended Sunday.

CAUGHT 'EM: TinCaps catchers lead the league in throwing out runners trying to steal (29 CS). Individually, Brandon Valenzuela leads with 19, while Anthony Vilar has nabbed 8 of 20, and Adam Kerner has caught 2.

PATIENT: The TinCaps lead the MWL in walks drawn (4.3 per game) and also have struck out the 2nd fewest times in the MWL (8.5 per game).

MISCELLANEOUS: The TinCaps are 25-12 when scoring first (67% win rate) and 4-34 when they don't (10%)... Fort Wayne is 6-9 in 1-run games, 5-10 in 2-run games, and 0-2 in extra-innings.

260 TO THE SHOW: Since Fort Wayne's franchise was established in 1993, there have been 206 alumni who've gone on to appear in the major leagues, including 49 this season... As of last week, Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski (2017-18) led MLB rookies in home runs (12), while MacKenzie Gore (2018, '21) ranked 4th among rookies in strikeouts (65)... The latest MLB All-Star Game fan voting has 2014 TinCap Trea Turner of the Dodgers leading the way for NL shortstop and 2016 TinCap Ty France of the Mariners in 2nd for AL first baseman.
