
TinCaps stifled in 4-1 loss

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The TinCaps were held to just three base hits in a 4-1 loss to the Bowling Green Hot Rods, Monday at Bowling Green Ballpark. Wande Olabisi had two of the hits and stole a base.
The Hot Rods' bullpen was especially tough, delivering five scoreless frames and allowing just one hit. The TinCaps could not take advantage of seven walks in the first six innings.
In the first, Bowling Green plated a pair of run on a Mark Thomas double.
The TinCaps scraped together their only run in the third. Griffin Benedict drew a leadoff wlak and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Jeudy Valdez.
The Hot Rods rebounded in the bottom of the frame. Brett Nommensen scored on Julio Cedeno's two-out double to make it 3-1.
In the eighth, Cedeno lined a leadoff single. After an error put runners at the corners, Burt Reynolds drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, extending the Hot Rods' lead to 4-1.
Bowling Green RHP Alex Koronis (8-4) fired two shutout innings in relief to pick up the win. TinCaps LHP Jose De Paula (8-4) took the loss. RHP Scott Shuman grabbed his 14th save.
Fort Wayne fell to 38-25 in the half, 74-59 for the season. The Hot Rods upped their record to 26- 37 in the second half, 57-75 for the year.
The TinCaps finish the four-game road series against the Hot Rods (Class-A Tampa Bay Rays) Tuesday at 7:35 p.m. ET. Fort Wayne LHP Josh Spence (2-1) takes the mound against Hot Rods RHP Yorman Mayora (1-1).
