Bryant George arrives from Orem; Matt Oye to Rancho

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce that RHP Matt Oye has been promoted to Rancho Cucamonga of the California League and that RHP Bryant George will join the Kernels from the Orem Owlz. Abe Flores, Director of Player Development for the LA Angels, announced the move on Monday.

The Angels selected George in the 13th round of the 2010 Free Agent Draft out of Southern Illinois University and assigned him to Orem. In 20 relief appearances, he posted a 4-1 record and 1.98 ERA with a save. In 41 IP, he allowed 37 hits and 11 runs (nine earned) with 15 walks and 44 strikeouts.

Oye made 15 relief appearances for the Kernels, with a 0-1 record and 1.85 ERA. In 24.1 IP, he allowed 21 hits and five runs (all earned) with seven walks and 22 strikeouts.

With today's transactions, the Kernels roster remains at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with three players currently on the disabled list.

The Kernels continue an eight game road trip tonight in Quad Cities at 7:00 pm as John Rodgers brings you the action on the radio home of Kernels baseball, 1450 KMRY AM. Fans may listen on-line at www.kmryradio.com, or www.kernels.com .

The Kernels return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, September 1 and open a three game series with the Burlington Bees.
