DAVENPORT, Iowa - The River Bandits rallied from behind to take down the Kernels 4-3 on Monday night at Modern Woodmen Park. The Bandits got strong starting pitching from Eric Fornataro. Even though he didn't record the decision, he left with his team still within striking distance.

Cedar Rapids scattered three runs on six hits against the Bandit starter over his six innings of work. Fornataro walked three and struck out two but he still ended with a winless August.

After pulling within a run in the sixth, Quad Cities took the lead in the bottom of the seventh on a two-run double by Edgar Lara which scored Rainel Roasario and Alan Ahmady. That was all the Bandits needed as Dan Calhoun (8-0) shut the door on the Kernels over his two innings to earn the win. He allowed four hits, but no runs and he struck out three.

Jose Rada (6) allowed a leadoff single to Jean Segura in the ninth but was still able to close it out without any damage to earn the save.

Buddy Boshers allowed two runs on eight hits over six innings in his start but took a no decision. Carson Andrew was saddled with the loss after allowing the deciding two runs over his two innings worked.

The two teams wrap up the four-game set on Tuesday night at Modern Woodmen Park. The River Bandits will send right-hander Joe Kelly to the mound against Cedar Rapids righty Ariel Pena. First pitch is set for 7:00.
