LET'S PLAY 2: The TinCaps and Cubs had their scheduled game on Wednesday postponed due to rain setting up for a doubleheader tonight. This season, the TinCaps have had 2 suspended games, 5 postponed games, and 2 cancelled games due to weather.

LAST TIME OUT: The TinCaps topped the West Michigan Whitecaps, 5-1, for their third win in a row to take the series on Tuesday night. MacKenzie Gore worked 6 innings of 1-run ball with 5 strikeouts and no walks/hit batters.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK: On Monday, southpaw Osvaldo Hernandez was named the Midwest League's Pitcher of the Week. Last Thursday Hernandez faced the minimum over 6 innings at Lake County. He allowed just a single and a hit batter, and had those baserunners negated with a double play and a pickoff. The 20-year-old from Cuba has the MWL's lowest ERA at 1.81... Looking to advanced stats, Hernandez also has the lowest FIP (2.82). He's 5th in K/BB (3.75)... Of balls put into play against him, only 17% have been line drives (9th lowest rate in the league). His 1.08 ratio of ground balls to fly balls is 12th best... Hernandez has held opposing left-handed batters to a .175 average (righties batting .273).

COUNTDOWN TO 4 MILLION: The TinCaps are just 2,733 fans away from drawing their 4,000,000th fan at Parkview Field in the ballpark's 10th season. On the night team hits the 4-million milestone (expected to be Wednesday barring weather), 1 fan will receive $4,000 in TinCaps hospitality, season tickets, merchandise, and other prizes. 10 other fans will receive $400 gift cards and 20 fans will receive $100 gift cards (so a grand total of $10,000 will be given away).

KEY ADDITIONS: Olivier Basabe has hit safely in each of his 6 games as a TinCap since joining the team last Wednesday... Owen Miller has hit safely in 6 of 7... Both were Northwest League All-Stars with Short-Season Tri-City.

RUIZ RIGHTS SHIP: Esteury Ruiz had 3 hits on Tuesday for his first multi-hit game since Aug. 3 and his first game with at least 3 hits since a 4-hit performance on July 19... Ruiz also stole a base Tuesday. His 40 stolen bags on the year are tied for 3rd most in the MWL.

SUWINSKI THRIVING: Over 14 games since July 31, Jack Suwinski has the 2nd highest OPS in the Midwest League at 1.161. Suwinski has slashed .380/.441/.720 with 5 doubles, 4 homers, and 13 RBIs in this range. He's been at his best at home this season, where he's hit all 9 of his home runs.

ARI-SERIOUS?!: Gabriel Arias had a 21-game on-base streak end on Monday. Nevertheless, since July 19, the 18-year-old has slashed .286/.402/.429 with 5 doubles, 2 homers, and 12 RBIs.

SELLOUT CITY: The TinCaps had their 15th sellout of the season on Saturday with a crowd of 8,456 - the 3rd largest of the year here. Fort Wayne has drawn 341,244 fans for an average of 5,594 across 61 openings. The TinCaps rank 2nd out of 100 Single-A/Short-Season teams in attendance, and better than 27 out of 30 Double-A clubs and 13 of 30 in Triple-A.

ON THE SHELF: The TinCaps currently have 5 players on the Disabled List in catcher Luis Campusano (concussion), infielder Justin Lopez (broken left thumb), outfielders Robbie Podorsky (back spasms) and Tirso Ornelas (right hand bone bruise), and reliever Jose Quezada.
