Bees Beat Rattlers 3-1 in Burlington
August 16, 2018 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
BURLINGTON, IA - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers were held to three hits by four Burlington Bees pitchers in a 3-1 loss at Community Field on Thursday night. The loss continued the Rattlers slump at the Bees' home ballpark that dates back to the start of the 2017 season.
Burlington (46-73 overall, 16-34 second half) took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the third inning on RBI singles by Cam Williams and Tim Millard. The runs were the only ones allowed by Wisconsin starting pitcher Nelson Hernández, but it was enough for him to be charged with the loss.
Austin Krzeminski, the Burlington starting pitcher, made that lead stand up through five innings. Krzeminski, who was making his second professional start, allowed one hit, walked one, and struck out five on less than 60 pitches. His longest previous outing as a pro was four innings and that was in a Pioneer League game on August 11, 2017
The Rattlers (58-64, 27-26) did cut into the lead with a run in the top of the sixth inning against reliever James Ziemba. Darren Seferina singled with two outs and went to second on a wild pitch. Eddie Silva followed with a double to right to score Seferina and Wisconsin was down 2-1.
Kevin Williams gave the Bees their two-run cushion back when he launched a lead-off home run off reliever Sal Biasi in the bottom of the sixth.
The Rattlers were held hitless after the RBI double by Silva and they went down quietly to the Bees for the tenth time in their last eleven games at Community Field. Wisconsin is 0-4 here in 2018.
The final game of the series - and of Wisconsin's road trip - is set for Friday night. Scott Sunitsch (1-0, 0.00) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Burlington has named Anfernee Benitez (3-3, 4.84) as their starter. Game time at Community Field is 6:30pm. The radio broadcast is on AM1280, WNAM starting with the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino Pregame Show at 6:10pm. The broadcast is also available on the Tune In and IHeart Radio apps.
