Dayton Dragons News Release
Dayton, Ohio - Mark Kolozsvary hit a two-run home run and the Dayton Dragons battled back from a 4-1 deficit to defeat the Lake County Captains 5-4 on Thursday night. A crowd of 8,175 was in attendance at Fifth Third Field as the Dragons earned their second straight win over Lake County.
With the win, the Dragons pulled to within three and one-half games of West Michigan for the final playoff slot in the Second Half East Division playoff race.
The Dragons bullpen had a perfect night as Dauri Moreta and Ryan Nutof combined to retire all 12 batters they faced over four innings. Moreta (2-1) earned the win by tossing three innings and striking out two. Nutof pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning without allowing a ball out of the infield to notch his fifth save.
With Dayton trailing 4-1, Kolozsvary blasted a two-run home run in the fifth inning after a lead-off walk to Alejo Lopez to make it 4-3. Then in the sixth, Andy Sugilio hustled out an infield single, stole second, and scored on a double by Jonathan India to tie the game. India's drive reached the center field fence on one bounce. India went to third base on a wild pitch and scored on Lopez's sacrifice fly to give the Dragons a 5-4 lead. The Captains did not have a base runner the rest of the night.
Dragons starting pitcher Jared Solomon battled through five innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits with four walks and two strikeouts.
The Dragons finished with seven hits. Jose Garcia was 2 for 5 with a run scored. Sugilio's hit extended his hitting streak to nine straight games.
