Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release

MIDLAND, MI - The Bowling Green Hot Rods fell 4-3 in 10 innings to the Great Lakes Loons tonight at Dow Diamond. LF Moises Gomez hit a game-tying two-run homer in the eighth, and SS Taylor Walls reached base three times and scored twice in the loss.

The Hot Rods scored in the first inning when Walls came in after C Ronaldo Hernandez stole second with runners on first and third.

The Loons tied it in the bottom of the second on a sac fly, and the 1-1 score remained until the seventh inning.

Great Lakes got back-to-back RBI base hits- a triple and a single- to take a 3-1 lead after seven innings.

However, the Hot Rods had an answer. Walls collected a one-out single and then on the next pitch, Gomez homered to left field. It was his 13th home run of the season and his third of the trip.

The game went to extras tied 3-3.

In the top of the 10th, Walls hit a fly ball to left field that appeared to be deep enough to score CF Jake Stone from third, but a bang-bang play at the plate went in favor of the Loons and the Hot Rods were held off the board.

The Loons got two runners on in the bottom of the 10th and an error led to the winning run scoring. The final was 4-3.

The Hot Rods will look to win the rubber match tomorrow night when they send out RHP Paul Campbell (3-0, 2.91). Great Lakes will counter with RHP Gerardo Carrillo (0-1, 2.03). First pitch from Dow Diamond is set for 7:05pm Eastern time.
