FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The series opener between the Fort Wayne TinCaps and Bowling Green Hot Rods was suspended Saturday night due to rain. The TinCaps led 2-0 in the top of the second inning when play was suspended.

After a scoreless top of the first, Fort Wayne got on the board in the bottom of the first, with Jace Peterson leading off with a single. He moved to second base on a balk, and Tyler Stubblefield followed with a walk. Mike Gallic hit a sharp ground ball to third baseman Tyler Goeddel, who bobbled the ball, leaving runners safe at every base. Yeison Asencio then grounded into a double play, with Peterson scoring from third. Lee Orr followed with a single to score Gallic.

Before play was suspended in the top of the second, TinCaps starter Mat t Wisler surrendered back-to-back singles to Cameron Seitzer and Jeff Malm. Josh Sale then reached on a fielder's choice, with Seitzer retired at third base. Kes Carter followed with a fly out to left field, and Tyler Goeddel had a 1-2 count on him when play was suspended.

Action will resume Sunday at 3:05 p.m., with Saturday's suspended game to be completed in full. Following the completion of that game, a seven-inning ballgame will follow. James Needy will take the mound to complete the suspended game, and Cody Hebner is the scheduled starter in Sunday's second game.
