
Timbers to Face Western Conference Foe Real Salt Lake in Home Opener

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers will play host to Real Salt Lake in the home opener of the 2015 season presented by Simple, at Providence Park on Saturday, March 7, it was announced today as MLS unveiled details for each club's home-opening matches for its 20th season.
The Timbers' match on March 7, presented by Providence Health & Services, during Week 1 of the MLS schedule will mark the first time that Portland opens its home schedule against a Western Conference opponent in the club's MLS history as well as its fourth consecutive home, season-opening game. Since 2011, Portland has opened its home schedule against Eastern Conference clubs Chicago (2011), Philadelphia (2012, 2014) and the New York Red Bulls (2013).
Portland is 2-0-2 in MLS home openers since 2011 and has logged a 14-2-9 overall regular-season record against Western Conference opponents at Providence Park since the start of the 2013 season.
Additional information on time and broadcast details will be announced in the coming weeks as part of the complete 2015 regular-season schedule announcement.
