
Timbers, Real Salt Lake Play to 4-4 Draw at Providence Park

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers received goals from four different players in a 4-4 draw against Real Salt Lake on Saturday night at Providence Park. Sebastián Blanco recorded a goal and an assist in the match, while Jaroslaw Niezgoda tallied his second goal of the regular season. Diego Chara and Felipe Mora both scored their first goals of the 2020 season.
Blanco Stats
Blanco recorded his second goal and his fourth assist of the 2020 regular season. His four assists rank tied for third-most in MLS. With a goal and an assist, Blanco has tallied five goals and four assists in seven career matches against RSL. Notably, Saturday's match marked the seventh time Blanco has notched a goal and an assist in the same match. Across all competitions in 2020, Blanco has four goals and six assists. His four goals are tied for the team lead this season.
Timbers Firsts
Chara's goal was his first of the 2020 campaign. It was Chara's first goal since Oct. 21, 2018, which also came against Real Salt Lake. Niezgoda notched his first career goal at Providence Park in the match. Mora recorded his first career goal for Portland. Jeremy Ebobisse notched his first assist of the regular season.

POR - Diego Chara, 6th minute: Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Andrew Putna attempted to play a pass to Pablo Ruiz near the edge of the box, but Chara intercepted the pass, dribbled around Putna and finished into an open net.
RSL - Corey Baird, 19th minute: Maikel Chang's initial shot from inside the box was blocked and landed at the feet of Corey Baird, who converted near the right post.
POR - Jaroslaw Niezgoda (Diego Valeri), 21st minute: Diego Valeri served a corner kick to the center of the box and Niezgoda deposited a header into the goal from the edge of the six-yard box.
RSL - Damir Kreilach, 48th minute: Albert Rusnák's corner kick was redirected to Damir Kreilach, who delivered a close-range strike into the back of the net.
POR - Sebastián Blanco (Jeremy Ebobisse), 70th minute: Blanco received a short pass from Ebobisse just after crossing midfield, dribbled to the top of the box and sent a curling strike into the top left corner of the goal.
POR - Felipe Mora (Sebastián Blanco), 85th minute: Blanco played a quick outlet pass to Mora streaking down the left side of the field. Mora dribbled into the box and sent the goalkeeper the wrong direction, slotting the ball inside the left post.
RSL - Giuseppe Rossi (Damir Kreilach, Corey Baird), 90th minute: Baird served a cross into the box from the left wing that was headed down to the feet of Giuseppe Rossi, who turned and fired a shot into the bottom right corner.
RSL - Sam Johnson (Corey Baird), 94th minute: Baird dribbled into the box and slotted a short pass to Sam Johnson for the finish from the top of the six-yard box.
Notes
Jaroslaw Niezgoda scored his first career goal at Providence Park. The goal was his second of the regular season and his fourth in all competitions.
Diego Chara tallied his first goal of the 2020 season. It was Chara's first goal since Oct. 21, 2018, which also came against Real Salt Lake. He has scored 10 career goals for the Timbers.
Chara has scored 11 goals in all competitions for Portland. The Timbers are unbeaten, posting a record of 8-0-2 when Chara scores a goal.
Sebastián Blanco tallied his second regular-season goal in 2020 and his fourth goal in all competitions.
Blanco's four goals in all competitions this season are tied for the team lead with Jeremy Ebobisse and Diego Valeri.
Blanco has scored five career goals against RSL, which is three more than he has scored against any other MLS team.
Blanco recorded his fourth assist in regular-season play, which is tied for third-most in MLS.
Blanco has seven career matches with both a goal and an assist for Portland.
Felipe Mora recorded his first career goal for the Timbers in the match. Mora is the 59th different player to score in an MLS match for Portland.
Valeri tallied his sixth career assist against RSL, which ranks as the most in the all-time series.
Ebobisse notched his first assist of the 2020 regular season. It was Ebobisse's first assist since June 1, 2019.
The Timbers have scored in 12 consecutive matches against RSL, which ties a club record for most consecutive matches with a goal against a single club (LA Galaxy).
The eight combined goals in the match are tied for the most in a Timbers match since the club joined MLS in 2011.
For the second time since the 1975, Portland played in a match that ended in a 4-4 draw. The only other 4-4 match in team history took place on April 5, 2014.

The Timbers play host to the LA Galaxy in a midweek match on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Providence Park.
