
Timbers Host Orange County SC in Third Round Match of 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Tonight

The Portland Timbers will host Orange County SC in the third round match of the 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Providence Park tonight, Wednesday, April 26. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. (Pacific) and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Golazo Network on CBSSports.com, the CBS Sports App for connected TV devices, the CBS Sports mobile app, Pluto TV, and Paramount+.
Tonight's match marks the inaugural meeting between the Timbers and Orange County SC. In 35 U.S. Open Cup matches since entering the competition in 2004, the Timbers hold a record of 19-16, advancing to the quarterfinal round four times (2013, 2014, 2018, 2019) and the semifinal round in 2013 and 2019. The last time the club competed in the tournament, the Timbers fell 2-0 to LAFC in the Round of 32 of the tournament at Banc of California on May 10, 2022. This regular season, nine different players have tallied Portland's 11 goals through nine matches (Asprilla, Boli, Evander, Fogaça, Ikoba, McGraw, Mosquera, Niezgoda, Paredes). The Timbers have the second-most goal scorers (9) in the league this season, trailing only the Columbus Crew (10). Following tonight's midweek match, Portland will return to league play on Saturday, April 29 to face expansion side St. Louis CITY at CITYPARK Stadium for the first time in club history.
