Atlanta United FC News Release
ATLANTA - Atlanta United today announced that it has signed goalkeeper Vicente Reyes to a Short-Term Agreement. Reyes, signed from the club's MLS NEXT Pro side Atlanta United 2, will be available for selection for both Wednesday's 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match vs. Memphis 901 FC and Saturday's MLS regular season match at Nashville SC.
Per 2023 MLS Roster Rules and Regulations, a club may sign a player, age 25 or younger during the league season, from its affiliate (MLS NEXT Pro) to a maximum of four Short-Term Agreements (up to four-day contracts) each season (maximum of 16 days). An individual player may be included on up to four MLS league season match rosters each season, however, that player may appear in no more than two MLS league season matches. An individual player may appear in any number of non-league games during the terms of his four Short-Term Agreements.
Reyes, 19, was a member of the Academy's inaugural U-13 roster in 2016. He worked his way through the Academy and made his professional debut with ATL UTD 2 on Sept. 2, 2020 in a 2-1 victory against Philadelphia Union II. He would go on to make six appearances combined in 2020 and 2021 before signing his first professional contract on Jan. 7, 2022.
Last season, Reyes made a career-high 16 appearances and set the club's single-season save record with 86. This season, the Chilean youth international has played in four matches for ATL UTD 2 in MLS NEXT Pro and recorded one clean sheet with a 72.7 save percentage. The clean sheet came in his most recent outing last weekend in a 2-0 win against Chicago Fire FC II.
Internationally, Reyes has been called up to Chile's U-17 and U-20 national teams. He's started five matches for the U-20 side and recorded two clean sheets.
