Tim Johnson Gets First Win As Diablos' Skipper

El Paso Diablos News Release

EL PASO, TX- The Diablos fought back from an early deficit and then poured it on late to beat the Grand Prairie Air Hogs 11-8 in front of 6,000 plus at Cohen Stadium.

The win was the first for new El Paso manager Tim Johnson who had lost in his Diablos debut on Friday evening. But his team would not be denied in game three of the four-game set with the Air Hogs, pounding out 18 hits and taking advantage of four Grand Prairie errors to win two games in a series for the first time in 2012.

The Diablos were paced by another big night from the bottom of their order. Jimmy Rohan, Derrick Pyles and Jordan Marks went a combined 8-for-13 with four RBI's, with Pyles contributing four hits and scoring twice to keep the El Paso merry-go-round going.

The Diablos won despite a less than stellar outing from starter Osvaldo Rodriguez, who lasted just four innings and gave up six runs while walking five. But a bullpen that has struggled in 2012 held the fort with the team trailing 6-5 after those four innings. Ronny Morla (1-2) earned the victory with two and a third innings of one run ball, while Reyes Dorado posted a scoreless inning before Marcel Prado closed out El Paso's fifth win.

It was Marks who put the Diablos in front for good, knocking in Rohan and Pyles to give El Paso a 7-6 lead in the sixth. The Diablos would eventually push across four more runs to make a winner of Morla and head into the finale with Grand Prairie searching for the team's first series win of 2012.

Freddy Flores, who went eight innings in his last start for El Paso, will take the ball for the Diablos. The game is scheduled for a 6:05 p.m. (MST) start.
