Medicine Hat Tigers News Release
Medicine Hat, AB - The Medicine Hat Tigers announced today the signing of 2006 born Defenceman Kolby Gapter to a Standard WHL Player Agreement.
Gapter, was selected by the Tigers in the 2nd Round of the 2021 WHL US Prospect Draft #25 overall. The Arvada, Colorado product played in 60 games during the 2021-22 U15 season with the Rocky Mountain Roughriders scoring seven goals & 17 assists for 24 points while he added another 59 games played in the U14 Roughriders program in the 2020-21 Season accumulating five goals & 12 assists for 17 points.
Tigers Director of Player Development Bobby Fox says Gapter will add great depth to the Tigers back-end when he wears the Orange & Black.
"Kolby is a right handed solid two way defenseman. He shows a good ability to defend whether it's a good stick or using the body and closing a gap quickly. He does a good job of evading forecheckers and moving the puck north while showing good instincts to jump up offensively."
Gapter will be with the Southern Alberta Hockey Academy U18 program this season with the opportunity to be a Tigers affiliate player throughout the 2022-23 WHL Season.
The Tigers continue to prepare for their rematch in last Saturday's home opener win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes when they travel to Lethbridge Friday night, before returning home Saturday against the Winnipeg ICE , Game time is 7 PM you can beat the lines and get your tickets here.
