
Tigers Shutout Cyclones

Norwich, CT - The Connecticut Tigers (14-16) defeated the Brooklyn Cyclones (15-15) by a score of 6-0 Sunday evening at Dodd Stadium. Tigers DH Kasey Coffman (2-3) put together a two hit, two RBI performance in the win over the Cyclones. Coffman hit a two-run double in the first inning to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.
In his sixth start of the season and just his second start at Dodd Stadium, Tigers RHP Fernando Perez (2-2) pitched five shutout innings while giving up three hits and struck out four to earn his second win of the season. RHP Gabe Hemmer and RHP Paul Voelker combined to throw four shutout innings in relief of Perez. Hemmer and Voelker each struck out two batters in their two innings of work. The three Tigers pitched held Brooklyn to just four hits in the game.
Besides Coffman's two RBI performance, Tigers grabbed production all around from their offense as everyone in the lineup picked up at least one hit in the win over Brooklyn. 1B Jacob Kapstein (2-4) had a couple of great defensive plays as he stopped a few base hits from happening. Along with his defense, Kapstein picked up two hits in the game that includes a two-run single in the seventh inning and gave the Tigers a commanding six run lead. C Franklin Navarro (1-4) and LF Rashad Brown (1-4) each chipped in with an RBI.
The Tigers RHP Josh Heddinger (0-0, 4.50) is slated to face Cyclones RHP Marcus Molina (2-0, 0.38) in the series finale. Tomorrow is Kids Eat Free presented by US Foods & The Day. Each child ticket (12 & under) will receive a voucher redeemable for a hot dog, bag of chips, bottle of water, and an apple! It is also Social Media Monday.
