Tigers Set to Honour Bob Ridley's 3000th Regular Season Broadcast

Medicine Hat, AB - The man doesn't need an introduction. He is a legend in Medicine Hat, the Western Hockey League and the entire hockey community. He is the Dean of WHL broadcasters.

Bob Ridley, the only man to call every single Medicine Hat Tigers broadcast, except for one, since the inaugural 1970-71 season will be honoured prior to the Tigers game tomorrow night versus the Kootenay Ice.

Ridley will call his 3000th regular season game on Saturday night when the Tigers play the Lethbridge Hurricanes on the road in Lethbridge.

The native of Drumheller, AB is in his 42nd year of broadcasting Tigers hockey on CHAT 94.5 FM. Ridley is the only member of the Tigers organization that has seen every single player who has dressed in the Tigers white, orange and black.

The other amazing fact is Ridley also acts as the Tiger's bus driver. He is currently working on amassing his second million of driving miles.

"It has been an honour to work with Bob for the past 20 years," said Tigers' director of marketing and public relations, Dave Andjelic. "He is a very classy individual and is well respected in the Western Hockey League and the hockey community as a whole. I am very proud to call him my friend."

"Bob has not only brought a great deal of attention to the Tiger's organization over his 42-years in broadcasting Tigers hockey but he has put the City of Medicine Hat on the map as well. He is well known by many who work in the NHL circles and has a special relationship with CBC's Hockey Night in Canada's Kelly Hrudey, who spent many hours at the front of the bus talking with Bob during his playing days with the Tigers," stated Andjelic.

The entire Medicine Hat Tigers organization, past and present, salute Bob on this seldom achieved milestone of 3000 regular season broadcasts and we wish him nothing but happiness and continued good health.
