
Tigers' Season Comes to an End in 5-2 Loss to Rebels

Medicine Hat, AB - The Red Deer Rebels scored five unanswered goals on route to a 5-2 victory in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Quarter Final over the Medicine Hat Tigers Friday night.
The Rebels got the scoring starting early just 2:56 in as Carson Latimer would fire home his 3rd of the series beating starting goaltender Zach Zahara (Rockyview, AB). After a Medicine Hat power play that could equalize the game, Rebels winger Dwayne Jean Jr. would make it 2-0 Red Deer, spelling the end of the night for Zahara and in would come in Ethan McCallum (Brandon, MB). Rebels would outshoot the Tigers 11-7 in the frame.
Despite a 5 on 3 in the second period and another power play opportunity the Tigers could not solve Chase Wutzke with 18 shots in the period, all turned aside. While the Rebels countered on a turnover for the Tigers as Frantisek Formanek would tap-in his first of the playoffs with 4:12 left in the second and Red Deer would take the 3-0 lead to the third period.
Into the third period, the Rebels would put up two more in a mere 29 seconds starting at the 4:37 mark as Kai Uchacz would get a opportune bounce at the side of the Tigers net banking in his first of the playoffs at 4:37. Then Talon Brigley would fire off his first of the playoffs to make it 5-0 Rebels.
The Tigers would finally solve Chase Wutzke as Andrew Basha (Calgary, AB) would bang in his 3rd of the playoffs from Dru Krebs (Okotoks, AB) at 10:57. Then Nate Corbet (Calgary, AB) would re-direct a Reid Andresen (Saskatoon, SK) point shot to cut the deficit to 5-2. Tyler MacKenzie (Red Deer, AB) but that's as close as the Tigers would get as the Rebels would be triumphant in the series win at Medicine Hat.
