New Britain, CT - Newly-arrived Detroit Tigers farmhand JaCoby Jones turned New Britain Stadium on its side Sunday afternoon, slugging three home runs and knocking in five runs, as he paced the Erie Seawolves to a 7-1 win over the Rock Cats before a crowd of 2,942. Jones, described by Tigers President and GM Dave Dombrowski as a "quality young prospect," was acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates at the trade deadline for relief pitcher Joakim Soria.

Jones's first homer of the game was an opposite field two-run shot over the wall in right and staked the Seawolves to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. He homered off the left field scoreboard in the fifth inning, another two-run blast, and finished his electrifying performance with a solo blast of more than 400 feet over the wall in dead center in the ninth inning.

The Rock Cats, who split the four-game series, were paced by David Dahl, who went 2-for-4, including a first inning home run. In his last three games the Colorado Rockies' prospect has led off the last of the first inning with a double, single and home run. Joey Wong also collected two hits for New Britain.

Following a day off on Monday, the Rock Cats will welcome the Altoona Curve to New Britain Stadium for a three-game series, starting on Tuesday night at 7:05. The Rock Cats will send 11-game winner Shane Carle to the mound against the Pirates affiliate.
