SeaWolves Split Series with 7-1 Victory

The SeaWolves earned the series split against the Rock Cats with a big 7-1 win in the last game of the four game set at New Britain Stadium.

Erie jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Wynton Bernard singled to lead off and was plated by JaCoby Jones first homer in a SeaWolves uniform.

The Rock Cats pulled within one in the bottom half of the first inning on David Dahl's fourth homer of the year.

The game then remained scoreless until the fifth inning when Erie added three runs. Jones and Jeff McVaney went back-to-back with homers in the inning. Jones' crushed his second two run homer of the day, which once again plated Bernard. McVaney then followed with a solo blast himself to increase the Erie lead to 5-1.

The 'Wolves added another run in the sixth inning to pull ahead 6-1. Dominic Ficociello doubled to lead off the inning and scored from second on a Miguel Gonzalez double.

In the ninth inning, it was JaCoby Jones who crushed his third homer of the day to dead center field and ultimately sent the SeaWolves home with a 7-1 victory.

Chad Green (3-14) pitched a solid game on the mound for Erie as he picked up the win. Green went five innings allowing only a run on six hits while walking one and fanning five.
