Medicine Hat Tigers News Release

Medicine Hat, AB - On Saturday the Medicine Hat Tigers named defenceman Daniel Baker as the 38th Captain in the team's 51 year history.

A career Tiger originally drafted in the 2nd round of the 2016 WHL Prospect Draft, the 6'4 defenceman from Edmonton, Alberta has 19 goals, 56 assists and 143 penalty minutes in 186 career games for the Tigers, over five seasons in the Western Hockey League.

When asked about being named the team Captain, Baker said "It's a real honour. I've been able to learn from guys like Jimmy and Chyz (James Hamblin & Ryan Chyzowski) and to be able to pass that along, in an organization like this is very special."

Tigers Head Coach and General Manager Willie Desjardins says "We've been really impressed with Dan and the progress he's made over the last three seasons both as a player as well as leader. He has always been a team first guy and has done everything asked of him and more. He leads by example and both the young guys and vets look up to him."

The Tigers next action comes tomorrow night as the team is back on the highway to Brandon to take on the Wheat Kings.
