Medicine Hat Tigers News Release

Regina, SK - The final trip to the Queen's City didn't fall in favour of the Medicine Hat Tigers Wedneday Night at the Brandt Centre.

The Tigers dropped a 6-3 loss to the Regina Pats to have a record of 23-23-8-1 and 8th in the Eastern Conference standings despite a thrilling first period. Pats froward Tanner Howe scored the opening goal on a 5 on3 power play chance for Regina at 7:33 which was answered quickly by Tigers F Hunter St. Martin (Edmonton, AB) at 10:11 who beat Drew Sim on a breakaway from a feed via Oasiz Wiesblatt (Calgary, AB) & Bogdans Hodass (Jelgava, LAT). The Pats would respond late in the 1st after Tigers goaltender Evan May (Nanaimo, BC) would make a pair of brilliant saves before Sam Oremba would poke through the go-ahead goal in the period at 16:03. Both teams had plenty of chances with the Pats narrowly outshooting the Tigers 11-10 after 1.

In the second period the Tigers would create opportunities but couldn't cash while the Pats would add to their lead as Connor Bedard would beat May on a quick release making it 3-1 Pats at 10:36. Despite the two-goal deficit, the Tigers would carry a 21-16 shot lead heading to the third.

But just seven seconds in, the Pats would add to their lead as Howe would break-in behind the Tigers defence with his second of the game to push Regina's lead to 4-1. But once again the Tigers wouldn't go away quietly as Oasiz Wiesblatt would one-time his 21st of the year on a Tiger power play to make it 4-2 from Dru Krebs (Okotoks, AB) & Brenden Lee (Seattle, WA). Unfortunately, the Pats would counter on a turnover in the Tigers zone and Zach Stringer would beat May to make it 5-2 at 8:04. But yet again the Tigers would get a boost on another power play thanks to Tyler MacKenzie (Red Deer, AB) re-directing his 14th of the year from Hodass & Dallon Melin (Czar, AB) at 16:09.

With the goalie pulled the Tigers would get a chance but an ensuing penalty moment later would put the Pats back on the power play and Tye Spencer would put the final goal up on the scoreboard on this night with just 54 second left in the third, helping the Pats to the win.

In the loss the Tigers went 2/6 on the power play for the second straight game while the penalty kill would go 3/5.

Next up for the Tigers is four straight home games starting Saturday Night at Co-op Place when the Memorial Cup hosts the Kamloops Blazers make their way in for the first meeting between the tow clubs in over four years. Puck-drop is set for 7 PM.
