Medicine Hat Tigers News Release
The Tigers finished off the weekend with a game against the Prince Albert Raiders at the Art Hauser Centre on Saturday Night. It was the third meeting between the teams this season, with each team having come away with a victory on home ice.
The Tigers broke the scoring drought just over midway through the first when Noah Danielson found Oasiz Wiesblatt streaking towards the net with a nice backhand pass. Wiesblatt had the jump on the Raiders defender and beat the goaltender with a deke that he finished on the backhand for his sixth of the season. The Raiders would tie things up four minutes later when Evan Herman let a wrister go from the left faceoff dot that found the top corner for this team leading 15th of the season.
Medicine Hat would retake the lead early in the second period when Brendan Lee redirected Reid Andresen's wrister for his eighth of the season. The Raiders would respond quickly though with a pair of goals in the following two minutes to retake the lead. Evan Herman scored his second of the game 18 seconds after Lee's goal when he tapped in Tayem Gislason's cross ice pass to even the game at 2-2. A minute and a half later, Zachary Wilson poked in the puck as it just snuck under the goaltender and inched towards the goal line. The back and forth game would continue throughout the middle frame. Gleb Ivanov found a trailing Noah Danielson, who skated in and ripped home his ninth of the season at the 11:09 mark. The Raiders would reinstate their lead just over five minutes later. Harrison Lodewyk batted down a pass in the offensive zone and let a quick shot go that found the twine to make it a 4-3 game. The Tigers weren't done though and put another goal on the board to send it to the final period tied up 4-4. Bogdans Hodass moved the put along the blueline to Gleb Ivanov and he let a big one-timer lose that found the back of the net for his second of the year.
Despite the back and forth nature of the first two periods, Oasiz Wiesblatt and the Tigers took over in the third period. Early in the period, Brendan Lee found Wiesblatt with a cross ice feed that he one-timed from down on one knee. The goal was Wiesblatt's second of the night and first multiple goal game of his career. He wasn't done there though. The Tigers clamped down defensively for the remainder of the third period and the Raiders were forced to go with the extra skater late. Wiesblatt took advantage of that and skated up the ice and let shot go from inside the blue line to ice the game and give him his first career hat trick.
Garin Bjorklund (6-17-2-0) got the win in net for the Tigers. His 31 saves included a number of timely and highlight worthy stops.
