Tigers Athletic Therapist Lanuk Receives WHL Milestone Award

Medicine Hat, Alta. - The Western Hockey League announced today Medicine Hat Tigers Athletic Therapist and Equipment Manager Mikki Lanuk has been honoured with the WHL Milestone Award. Lanuk was recognized by WHL Commissioner Ron Robison in a special ceremony prior to Saturday's game between the Wenatchee Wild and Medicine Hat Tigers.

The WHL Milestone Award is presented to WHL players, coaches, trainers, officials, and WHL Championship teams for their outstanding achievements.

"On behalf of the WHL and our member Clubs, we would like to congratulate Mikki on reciving this prestigious WHL Milestone Award," commented WHL Commissioner Ron Robison. "WHL athletic therapists and equipment managers like Mikki work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure players are cared for and ready to compete at the highest level. It takes great commitment to serve in both capacities and we would like to thank Mikki for his remarkable service to the WHL over the past 22 seasons."

Lanuk is in the midst of his 22nd season in the WHL. His WHL career began in 2001-02 when he worked as the Athletic Therapist for the Kamloops Blazers. He joined the Tigers as Athletic Therapist and Equipment Manager ahead of the 2005-06 season, where he has been ever since.

Lanuk was a key contributor as the Tigers went on to win the 2007 WHL Championship. Internationally, he has served Canada at numerous events, including helping his country win gold at the 2007 IIHF World Junior Championship.
